EKIRS ASSURES TAX PAYERS OF ENGAGEMENTBy Samuel Olulodun

The Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to open engagement with taxpayers as part of efforts to strengthen voluntary tax compliance and promote a business-friendly environment in the state.

The Executive Chairman of EKIRS, Mr. Olaniran Olatona, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ engagement with a delegation of traders from Ado-Ekiti at the Revenue House.

Olatona said the meeting gave the Service and the traders an opportunity to discuss issues relating to tax administration, harmonise positions and deepen mutual understanding and cooperation.

He said the Service’s doors remained open to taxpayers across the state for complaints, enquiries and constructive feedback, adding that EKIRS would continue to adopt a collaborative approach to tax administration.

According to him, creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive remains a priority of the Service, given the critical role of the private sector in the state’s economic development.

The EKIRS boss also urged the traders to organise a seminar on financial discipline and business expansion, describing the initiative as part of the agency’s broader strategy to promote business sustainability through taxpayer education and capacity building.

Responding on behalf of the delegation, the traders commended EKIRS for its warm reception and the professionalism displayed by its officials.

They described the engagement as productive, saying it helped clarify issues relating to tax administration and dispel misconceptions about the Service’s operations.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Personal Income Tax, Mr. Joseph Olorunfemi; Head of Direct Assessment, Mr. Oluwasegun Ogunsanya; Head of Pay-As-You-Earn, Mr. Emmanuel Akinleye; Head of Legal Department, Barr. Ayodeji Olaifa; Head of Communications and Liaison, Mr. Ayomiposi Ayedun; Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuella Akinyemi; and other officials of the Service.
