Burkina Faso has released the Nigerian military personnel who were detained after their aircraft made a forced landing in the Sahelian country.
The release followed a high-level diplomatic intervention by the Nigerian government, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dispatching a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, to engage Burkina Faso’s junta leader, Ibrahim Traoré, on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by Alkasim Abdulkadir, spokesperson to the foreign affairs minister, both countries amicably resolved the matter involving the Nigerian Air Force pilots and crew.
The development underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen relations and ensure the safety of Nigerian personnel abroad.COURTSEY NEWSRISE DAILY.
