Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has assured residents of the state of adequate measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration during and after the yuletide season.
Governor Oyebanji gave the assurance on Thursday during a meeting with traditional rulers in the state at the Traditional Council Chambers, Ado-Ekiti. Speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting, Governor Oyebanji explained that he is aware of the usual surge in criminal activities during yuletide seasons.
However, he disclosed that collaborative efforts with security agencies and community leaders are underway to prevent potential threats to the security of lives and properties of residents.
The Governor described Ekiti as one of the safest states in the country, adding that his administration remains committed to safeguarding lives and properties during and after the yuletide season.
He emphasized that the government is adopting a comprehensive approach to address criminal activities in the state.
While urging residents to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear, Governor Oyebanji assured that security agencies are fully prepared to secure the state.
“The security situation in the state is encouraging, with improvements noted. Although pockets of criminality still exist, we are addressing these issues. We will combine kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to tackle criminal elements, and we are discussing with security chiefs to ensure they are up to the task,” Governor Oyebanji said.
“Residents should go about their businesses without fear of insecurity. We are committed to maintaining Ekiti’s reputation as one of the safest states in the country,” he assured.
