An Open Letter to the Man Who Is Fixing Nigeria
*His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR*
*President, Federal Republic of Nigeria*
*Aso Rock Villa, Abuja*
Dear Mr. President,
It took a lot of years to build Rome. And sir, it will also take courage, vision, and sacrifice to rebuild Nigeria.
Your commitment to wake Nigeria from its deep slumber is beyond imagination. A lot of development has come, and although it has not been easy for Nigerians, we understand that there is no freedom without sacrifice. The hardest moments we have had in the past are part of the sacrifice for rebuilding our nation.
Mr. President, your achievements are already beyond measure. In less than 3 years, you have taken bold steps that previous administrations avoided for decades.
*The removal of fuel subsidy* was painful, but it was necessary. For years, a few people were getting rich while the nation was bleeding. Today, that money is being redirected to infrastructure, education, and social programs.
*The unification of the exchange rate* was another tough but right decision. It has brought transparency to our economy and restored investor confidence in Nigeria.
*The push for student loans* has given hope to millions of Nigerian children whose parents can not afford school fees. Education is the greatest weapon against poverty, and you are putting it in the hands of the poor.
*The move toward the creation of state police* shows that you understand our security challenges. When communities are allowed to police themselves, crime will reduce, and our people will sleep with two eyes closed.
*And the renewed focus on local government autonomy* proves that you want development to reach the grassroots. For too long, LGA funds have been hijacked. When local governments work, roads in villages will be fixed, primary health centers will have drugs, and youth will have jobs.
Sir, I know the criticism is loud. I know some people do not want you to succeed because they benefited from the old broken system. But we the people are watching. We see the foundation you are laying.
Nigeria was sick. The economy was on life support, insecurity was everywhere, and our institutions were weak. But you came in like a doctor who is not afraid to perform surgery. The surgery hurts, but it is saving the patient.
Mr. President, on your mandate, we shall stand. We ask that you continue the good work. Do not be distracted by noise. The people who truly love this country know that nation-building is not a 100-meter dash. It is a marathon.
My prayer is that Almighty God will continue to guide you, protect you, and give you wisdom to do more. Give you strength in moments of pressure, and give you clarity to see what others can not see.
Nigeria needs patience now, and Nigeria needs faith. The reforms you started will take time to bear full fruit, but when they do, our children will call you the man who had the courage to fix Nigeria.
Thank you for choosing to serve at this difficult time. Thank you for carrying a burden that many ran away from. History will be kind to you, Asiwaju.
May Nigeria rise again under your leadership.
*Yours in support of a New Nigeria,*
