***The Way Of The Faithful*** OUR FATHERS’WISDOM By Revd Samuel Arowosafe

*OUR FATHERS’ WISDOM*
_Day 11: The Memory of the River_

The Proverb:
_”The river does not forget its source.”_

 *What Our Fathers Meant:*
A river flows wide and deep into the ocean, yet its source remains the high mountain spring. Our fathers taught that no matter how successful, wealthy, or prominent a man becomes through his labor, he must never sever ties with his roots, mentors, or foundational principles.

 *Today’s Twist:*
Success often breeds a selective amnesia. We forget the entry-level jobs, the early investors, or the mentors who gave us our first break.

– The executive who ignores the early team members who carried the startup during lean years—that is a river forgetting its source.
– The leader who abandons the core values that built their reputation once they attain power—that is a river forgetting its source.
– The professional who acts as though they are self-made, denying the grace and help received—that is a river forgetting its source.

Lasting success requires honoring the foundations that made your elevation possible.

_Scripture Connection: “Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.” — Deuteronomy 32:7_

 *Reflection Question:*
Who helped lay the foundation for your current level of success, and when was the last time you expressed genuine gratitude to them?

_Day 12: Descending the Palm Tree_

 *The Proverb:*
_”He who climbs the palm tree must climb down to eat.”_

 *What Our Fathers Meant:*
The height of the palm tree offers fruit, but no one can comfortably consume their harvest while suspended precariously at the top. You must complete the hard labor of safely descending to the ground to truly enjoy the reward of your work.

 *Today’s Twist:*
Many people know how to work hard and reach high positions, but they do not know how to safely disengage, rest, or enjoy the fruit of their labor with family and community.

– The workaholic executive who accumulates wealth but has no time or peace to enjoy it—that is staying suspended in the palm tree.
– The leader who refuses to build a succession plan, remaining trapped at the peak of operation—that is staying suspended in the palm tree.
– The professional who mistakes continuous hustle for a complete life—that is staying suspended in the palm tree.

Wisdom completes the cycle of labor by creating space for rest, reflection, and enjoyment.

_Scripture Connection: “There is nothing better for a person than to eat, drink, and find satisfaction in their toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God.” — Ecclesiastes 2:24_

 *Reflection Question:*
Have you allowed the pursuit of success to trap you in endless labor without taking time to enjoy the fruits of your work?

Grace and peace,
